7

At this point i have started all 1-6, but only 2 of those are completely finished in my eyes. I think I need to do some back tracking and finish up a lot of my work so I can continue to work forward and not lose what I was thinking back then. At this point for this check point I started working on a color version of one of the marker sketches. I think it was pretty successful so far and I plan to keep working on it and adding the final touches to make it look more detailed. I also have been working back on my 6th drawing inking the black lines and making it look more professional. This was my goal, was to get everything started so all it was was drawing time and I didn't have to 'think' anymore about what I was going to do. I still have to discover some of my breadth that I will use in my portfolio but I think everything is A-OK at this point, although I may have to work into spring break and I will see how that goes...

03-25-2011 CHECKPOINT!

So I'm working on my concentration now and fixing up my breadth and adding a few new pieces to that as I work on my concentration. My concentration has stayed on track and the theme of the work is still together. My sketch bookish art style that I am using in most the the pieces express my detailed style of drawing. I plan on working a color pencil or maybe two color pencil ones into my concentration before spring break possibly. This will add more element into the detailed and tight mark making that I do. I don't think there are a lot of expression in my marks, but hopefully I will met that in the breadth section of my portfolio. All the compositions are similar and I will have to break it up a bit to make it feel like its not the same thing over and over again. This will be the hardest part, as I finish up my concentration, because all my idea's are very close to being finished in my head. I'm kind of piecing it all together so I can bounce each idea off the next (like ping pong...kinda). My concept, is the sketchbook type looking art. It will look like a high quality 'sweet' looking beginning drawing. That's my goal. It will be based around the technology and futuristic creatures that are 100% original and from my imagination. This I hope will continue to flow and pump out ideas or I'm in deep water (without my arm floaties). I think my craftsmanship talks for itself. I work pretty hard on each of my works but because I am doing a drawing portfolio I am getting shafted by the time constraint. I really hope that I will be able to add these last pieces to my concentration and my breadth, so I can get this done on time. YES. TIS THE PLAN!

FEVER

Well, it turns out I got the fever this weekend (Packer fever) and was well distracted enough not to work one bit on anything but, eating food, and watching the game. My project was not done on time but the inspiration that I got after the game was absolutely golden. Walking home from the party I had to take a wizz pretty bad, so while on the road I turned to the snow bank and wrote "go pack go!!" in the snow with my pee. So thats what I'm going to draw, I think its funny and clever, and it was a good memory. The colors will be worked in on the lake in the distance, although the colors aren't real, hopefully it appears to be realistic rendering. I would get it done on time if I had another chance.

This is my final show, it was too big so for my 5th image and quickly pasted them together to give you an idea of what it looks like. I think it was an overall success the only thing I wish i would have done differently is that I should have gone out and bought some aqua blue spray paint. This would have took away the "gory" feel of the entire show. I still like it but I think it might scare away some people.

home and social justice.

The one on the left is my social justice project on the one on the left is my home project. Each of these are very different and are put together very differently. The POW social justice project was meant to put the feeling of discust into the mind of the viewer. I think the belly button approach really works here. While the computer is suppose to look calm and complex. Each of them stand by themselves and are important to me. They may still need some work and I will repost the finished finished pieces. I also still need to take a picture of the finished computer, it now has a drawn in background and looks a lot less boring.

FREE CHOICE

This is my second free choice drawing, i choose to make it a battle scene again. I think it turned out very well for the large amount of time and detail i put into it. I hope you can see that detail when I scan it in. Good thing the graphic's room scanner is awesome. The quality of detail I think is shown fairly well, and it looks how I want it to. Overall very happy with it.

These are the 3 photos I took that I enjoy the most, due to the complexity and interest of each of them.
My favorite though is the one of Amber the lighting was interesting the light coming from the road above and the natural 'grungeyness' to the location makes it unique. It has great leading lines and dynamic diagonals that create a lot of tension and 'livelyness' in the photo.
My second favorite photo that I took was the one in MIAD of my shoe. I would love to take more credit for it, but it was pretty accidental and I love how it came out (creating cool stuff on accident :D). I love the color on the ground and the lighting that was created from overhead, the emphasis is on the negative space and the objects that are seemingly 'poking' into the photo.
My last favorite photo is the one too
k down by the river. It has an incredibly strong diagonal line that leads the eye all the way down the photo and helps define space and distance in the photo. The cool and warm colors contrast each other and create an interesting effect in the foreground.
